What is the Plaid Govern managed service?
Plaid offers Govern as a managed service - meaning we take care of hosting, upgrades, security, sign on, and ensuring you can connect to your data systems. Our tool is based on the open source DataHub, which project provides a standard Apache license, the terms of which are incorporated into into your service agreement with Plaid upon subscription.
Why is Plaid Govern more effective than implementing an open-source tool ourselves?
Plaid takes care of ensuring single-sign-on, updates, security, and hosting. Additionally, Plaid has experience in developing custom scripts and integrations for platforms not yet made available in the open source world. Plaid has also designed custom features built exclusively for our higher education customers.
Data Protection – what is the compliance?
Our guiding principles:
- Only metadata, not data, is brought in. Only data about your data is ingested, no system data is ever brought in to Plaid Govern.
- We host Plaid Govern on Amazon Web Services, the world’s leading cloud provider. This allows us to provide substantial security around your metadata, ensuring that your staff can see what they need to know, and blocking unauthorized access.
- You choose where your data lives. In this context, AWS has numerous data centres throughout the world. You choose which one your data resides in.
